Deputy Constable Kills Man After High-Speed Chase

HOUSTON (February 15, 2013)--A Harris County deputy constable shot and killed a man during a confrontation inside a convenience store following a high-speed vehicle chase.

Capt. Jon Moore of the Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 3 said the man who was killed eluded deputies during a chase in which the man's car reached speeds of about 100 miles per hour.

The man ran after the car crashed.

The Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 3 sergeant found the man later, in the rear of the convenience store and ordered him to stand up and show his hands.

Moore said the man began to comply, but then crouched down and moved aggressively toward the sergeant.

He appeared to have something in his hand.

Moore was uncertain if the man had a weapon.
