NAVASOTA (June 23, 2014) A chemical used in natural gas processing was leaking from at least one of eight railcars that derailed Monday near Navasota, and Highway 6 was closed as a result of the derailment.

Nobody was hurt in the derailment Monday, the Grimes County Sheriff's Office said.

The eight cars derailed under a Highway 6 overpass and at least one of them was leaking diethanolamine.

Greene says deputies have closed nearby Highway 6.

Nobody has been evacuated.

The derailment may have caused damage to the overpass, Sheriff Don Sowell said.

The cars derailed at around 6:15 a.m. Monday while the 127-car train was en route from Houston to Fort Worth, Union Pacific spokeswoman Elizabeth Hutchison said.
