BARSTOW (August 4, 2014) Crews were making repairs and cleaning up Monday in West Texas after three locomotives and 10 cars derailed when a train collided at a crossing with a truck hauling water.
Two people were injured.
The eastbound Union Pacific train was hauling cargo containers from California to Shreveport, La., at the time of the collision at a rural crossing near Barstow southwest of Odessa.
The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital in Odessa.
A member of the train’s crew suffered a minor injury, but did not require medical attention.
