HOLLYWOOD PARK (August 29, 2012)—Hollywood Park Mayor William “Bill” Bohlke has died in a donkey attack on his ranch in Atascosa County.
Chief Deputy David Soward said Bohlke evidently was attacked Monday morning by an aggressive 500-pound male donkey he kept on the ranch.
Deputies and relatives found his body Monday night.
Soward said it will be up to the family to decide what to do with the donkey.
Bohlke was elected in May as mayor of the town of about 3,000 about 10 miles north of San Antonio.
Mayor Pro Tem Steve Phillips will serve as acting mayor until a Sept. 8 council meeting.
