Dozens Of Dogs Found Dumped In North Texas

DENTON (October 4, 2012)--Two large packs of dogs have been dumped in Denton County in recent days and authorities think they’re from of puppy mill operators who are getting rid of overstock in the wake of new regulations that tighten restrictions on dog breeders.

Police were dispatched early Tuesday to an area of Flower Mound after residents reported that dozens of mixed-breed Maltese dogs were running loose.

Within an hour, 51 of the dogs had been rounded up.

They were in relatively good shape and will now be put up for adoption unless the owner shows up to claim them.

One night earlier, another herd of dogs, this time cocker spaniels, was found in similar circumstances about 20 miles to the north in a rural area near Sanger.
