Dozens Of Area Firefighters Fight Heat, Flames Thursday

BARTLETT (July 14, 2011)—Firefighters from 10 departments were battling a large wildfire Thursday southeast of Bartlett near San Gabriel.

The fire, which had scorched 10-15 acres, was 35 percent contained early Thursday evening.

About 50 firefighters were on the scene.

Texas Forest Service personnel were en route with bulldozers.

Temperatures hovered around 100 degrees Thursday.

Crews form Bartlett, Holland, Little River-Academy, Rogers, Rockdale, Granger, Cameron, Thorndale, Taylor and Buckholts were fighting the fire Thursday evening.
