WACO (October 25, 2012)--A driver was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault after a road rage incident that left a motorcyclist injured.

Thien Qouc Nguyen, 37, was ordered held on $20,000 bond and also was placed on a federal immigration detainer without bond.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Nguyen was arrested Wednesday morning at the scene of a traffic accident on Lake Shore Drive after a motorcycle rider told police the driver of a Mercedes sedan pulled in front of him and slammed on his brakes.

Swanton said the 20-year-old cycle rider reported he was riding his 2000 Ducati motorcycle near Lake Shore Drive and Gholson Road when the driver of the Mercedes pulled alongside and tried to him to race.

The motorcyclist refused and as he pulled away from the intersection, he said, the driver of the Mercedes rode his bumper and then passed him, pulled in front of him and then slammed on his brakes.

The motorcyclist said he had to lay his bike down to keep from hitting the car and during the process was injured.

Based on the victim's statement, Swanton said, officers determined the driver had used the car as a weapon and arrested him for aggravated assault.
