Driver Dies After Car Hits Fire Truck

HOUSTON (November 19, 2012)—A driver died after his car hit a Houston fire truck that was returning to a station following a call, authorities in Houston said.

The identity of the 21-year-old victim has not yet been released, police said Monday.

Police said the Houston Fire Department pumper truck was backing into a station at around 4 a.m. Sunday with its flashing red lights on.

A witness who had stopped her vehicle to make way for the fire truck saw an approaching car hit the left side of the truck.

Police say evidence at the scene indicated the driver of the speeding car made no attempt to slow down or stop.

The driver died at the scene.

None of the firefighters in the truck was injured.
