LORENA (May 17, 2012)-Department of Public Safety troopers hauled a trailer-load of marijuana to the Waco highway patrol office after the drugs were discovered in a horse trailer.
A DPS communications officer said troopers stopped a vehicle towing a horse trailer just after 5 p.m. on Interstate 35 at mile marker 323.
Upon inspection of the trailer, the troopers found the marijuana and seized both the load and the vehicles.
The marijuana, which weighed around 714 pounds, had an estimated street value of $400,000, troopers said.
The load was taken back to the Waco highway patrol office about an hour later for testing and investigation.
Gustavo Garza, of Laredo, was arrested at the scene.
Troopers said he was to be charged with delivery of marijuana, in an amount more than 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds.
He remained in the McLennan County Jail Friday morning.
