BRAZOS COUNTY (August 1, 2012)--Two people are dead after a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning on State Highway 6 near the Brazos-Robertson County line.

Department of Public Safety trooper Jimmy Morgan said Hilari Star Tayrien, 37, of Houston, died at the scene of the accident.

Darryl Dewayne Young, 46, of Bryan, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, in Bryan where he died.

Morgan said Tayrien's relatives said she was driving to China Spring to visit family members and Young was driving home after work.

The investigating trooper's report states Tayrien was northbound in a 2007 BMW and Young was southbound in a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The two vehicles collided head on.

Morgan said the collision was so violent the front and side of the BMW were ripped off the chassis.

Both lanes of the highway were closed after the crash, but have since been reopened.

The trooper could not determine if either driver was wearing a seat belt.
