Pickup-18-Wheeler Crash Leaves One Dead

An early morning crash between a pickup and an 18-wheeler at a Central Texas intersection left one person dead.

COLLEGE STATION (August 6, 2014) One man died and a second was injured early Wednesday when a pickup truck rear-ended an 18-wheeler at an intersection in College Station.

The accident happened at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection George Bush Drive and FM 2818.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, which was southbound on FM 2818, had stopped at the intersection and was beginning to accelerate after the light turned green when the southbound pickup slammed into the rear of the rig, police said.

David Alan Wesneski, 25 of College Station, who was a passenger in the pickup, died in the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 22-year-old man who was driving the pickup was taken to a local hospital with what police said were minor injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler wasn’t hurt.
