TURNERSVILLE (January 12, 2013)—An early Saturday morning fire heavily damaged a rural Coryell County home and left a man and woman without a place to live.

Gatesville fire Chief Billy Vaden said Gatesville and Jonesboro fire department were sent just after 2 a.m. to a residence on Coryell County Road 216 where the first units on the scene found a house ablaze.

Vaden said the woman who lives in the house with her husband had to go to a neighbor’s home to call for help because her cell phone didn’t work.

The fire started in the kitchen and quickly spread to other rooms of the house, Vaden said, casing fire damage in some rooms and creating smoke and water damage throughout.

No one was injured.

Vaden also said firefighters were called back to the residence at about 8 a.m. after some hot spots rekindled.
