Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday, rain stays with us, but should taper off by Sunday, the drier of the two days.
HILL COUNTY (May 16, 2014) Authorities in Hill County were investigating Friday after an early-morning home invasion during which an elderly man and his wife were beaten and robbed and shots were fired.
Two men broke into the couple’s home at around 2:30 a.m. Friday off of County Road 2200 near Aquilla, beat up the residents and took phones, an iPad and other items, Hill County Sheriff Michael Cox said.
The elderly man had a gun, but the robbers took it from him, Cox said.
After the men left the house, the couple called a ranch hand who fired a shot in the air, Cox said, and then the robbers returned fire.
No one was hit, Cox said.
A 911 call was placed at around 3 a.m. Friday.
The names of the victims and information about their injuries weren’t immediately available.
No one has been arrested, Cox said.
