TEMPLE (January 22, 2013)—A man who was found dead Friday in a burning home in Temple was identified Tuesday as Sterling Briscoe, 78.

The Temple Fire Marshal’s Office received confirmation of the man’s identity Tuesday from the Dallas County Medical Examiners Office.

The cause of Briscoe’s death has not yet been determined.

Firefighters found Briscoe’s body just before 1 a.m. Friday after responding to a fire at a home at 813 East Avenue N.

Investigators said a space heater that was left on ignited bedding.

They found no working smoke alarms in the house.

Neighbors said the victim had lived in the house for more than a decade.
