Elderly Central Texas Woman Dies In Explosion, Fire

State investigators were expected Sunday at the scene of what was reported as a house fire and possible explosion that claimed the life of an elderly Central Texas woman.

ROBERTSON COUNTY (February 16, 2014) The State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate after what was reported as a house fire and possible explosion claimed the life of an elderly Robertson County woman.

Tille Hedrick, 94, died Saturday night in the fire in the unincorporated community of Wheelock.

Firefighters were sent to the home on Barziza Street at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday in response to a report of the fire and possible explosion, and when they arrived the house was engulfed in flames, fire officials said.

Firefighters found Hedrick’s body near the rear of the home after extinguishing the blaze.

A Wheelock fire official later said firefighters found no evidence of an explosion.
