Elderly Texas Man Accused Of Killing His Wife

TYLER (July 1, 2012)—Bobby Nichols, 75, was in custody Sunday in Tyler, in connection with the shooting death of his 71-year-old wife in the couple’s East Texas home.

Tyler police said they took Nichols into custody on Saturday.

He was held Sunday in the Smith County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bond.

Tyler police spokesman Matthew Smyser said a man who identified himself as Dr. Bobby Nichols called 911 on Friday night and said someone had been shot.

When officers arrived at the house they found Nichols and the dead woman, who was later identified as Rosiland Nichols.

A motive for the shooting was not released.
