Ex- Football Standout Found Shot To Death In Texas Home

DALLAS (January 10, 2014) Police were investigating Friday after Jason Thomas Berryman, 28, a former standout football player for Iowa State, was found shot to death at his home in Jefferson in East Texas.

Berryman was shot repeatedly.

His body was found Wednesday.

Few details about the shooting have been released, but police Chief Joe C. Hall said investigators have not identified a suspect.

Hall confirmed that Berryman played at Iowa State where he starred at defensive end as a freshman in 2003, when he was named the team's most valuable player and the Big 12's defensive newcomer of the year.

He last played for the Cyclones in 2005, when he was named defensive most valuable player in the Houston Bowl.

He later signed a two-year contract with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals, but was waived in 2007.
