Execution Date Set For Texas Man Convicted Of Killing 3

CORPUS CHRISTI (November 8, 2013) An execution date has been set for Texas death row inmate Jose Villegas, 38, who was convicted of capital murder for the stabbing deaths of a Corpus Christi woman, her young son and her mother.

State District Judge David Stith set an April 16th execution date Thursday.

Defense attorney Paul Mansur said new appeals will be filed to try to spare Villegas from lethal injection for the 2001 stabbing deaths of his ex-girlfriend Erida Perez Salazar, 24, her 3-year-old son, Jacob, and her mother, Alma Perez, 51.

Salazar was stabbed 32 times, her son 19 times and mother 35 times.

Evidence showed Villegas pawned a television stolen from the home to buy drugs.

He was arrested after leading police on a chase where he was driving Salazar's car.
