WACO (October 30, 2013) A family of five was homeless Wednesday morning after fire damaged their North Waco home.
Assistant Waco Fire Chief Chris Pechacek said firefighters were sent just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday to a house in the 2900 block of McFerrin Avenue after a caller reported the house was on fire.
The first units on the scene first verified that all the occupants were accounted for then within a few minutes had the blaze under control, Pechacek said.
Fire damage was confined to a bedroom on the back l;eft side of the house but the entire structure suffered smoke, heat and water damage.
Volunteers from the American Red Cross were assisting the family with shelter and other needs, Pechacek said.
No one was injured.
