Family Of Five Rescued From West Texas Mountains

EL PASO (October 9, 2012)—Searchers rescued a family of five Tuesday that spent the night lost deep in Franklin Mountains State Park in West Texas.

The El Paso Fire Department said the two adults, three children, and their three dogs began hiking Monday and got lost around nightfall.

Fire spokesman George de la Torre said they wandered in the dark until they found a cell phone signal early Tuesday and called for help.

Search teams assisted by a helicopter found the family and provided them with blankets, food and water.

None of them needed to be hospitalized.

The children are ages 9, 8 and 6.
