PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (May 30, 2014) The family of Rice University student Reny Jose, 21, who disappeared while on spring break to Panama City Beach, Fla., is asking for the help of the U.S. Attorney General's office.

Jose was reported missing March 3.

He was last seen by the friends with whom he was staying in Panama City Beach.

They told investigators he had taken LSD and talked of suicide before he disappeared.

Jose's parents are asking for the community's support in a petition asking U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder for federal involvement in the case.

The petition had 3,000 of the required 30,000 signatures on Thursday.

Searchers later found Jose’s clothes, wallet, and cell phone in a trash can near the rental home.
