BELTON (December 29, 2012) -- Shawne and Andy Barron adopted their twin daughters from an orphanage in Russia nearly 11 years ago.

"Hannah just walked right over to us, she just learned to walk," Shawne Barron said.

They are outraged by a law signed Friday by Russian President Vladimir Putin that bans American families from adopting Russian children.

"This has nothing to do with adoption, it has all to do with politics," Andy Barron said.

The ban comes after President Obama signed a bill that put sanctions on Russians deemed to be human rights violators.

Now 46 American families in the late stages of adopting Russian children may never bring their children home.

Shawne and Andy Barron spent two years filing paperwork and spent thousand of dollars to adopt the twins.

"That's why it's so sad for these families because they have been working for year to be able to do this and then boom, they shut the door on them like that," Andy Barron said. "It's just wrong."

The U.S. has urged the Russian government to let those families complete the adoption process.

"I don't think any of these families will stop," Shawne Barron said. "I think they will continue to find some means to be together eventually."
