Fire at Local Retirement Complex Under Investigation


MARLIN (June 29, 2013)- Fire raced through eight units of the Retirement Acres housing complex Friday evening in Marlin displacing eight residents.

No injuries were reported.

Other residents helped those whose homes were on fire escape.

The victims were taken to the Marlin Senior Civic Center on Hays Street which opened to provide an air conditioned place for residents.

The American Red Cross and Falls County Samaritan House are still assisting the fire victims, according to a the City of Marlin.

Firefighters from several departments responded to the blaze in the complex, which is on McClanahan Road, just off Highway 6 east of the downtown area.

The Marlin Fire Marshal and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating this fire.

Investigators have already advised the cause does not appear suspicious in nature.
