HEWITT (April 1, 2014) Hewitt firefighters were back at a trailer manufacturing company Tuesday morning as a raging fire had re-kindled from Monday night.
Several fire units were at the scene at Flat Rock Trailer and Ranch Supply, at 435 Enterprise Blvd., after a call that a fire from Monday night had re-kindled.
Southbound traffic along the Interstate 35 access road near mile marker 328 was moving slowly but was not blocked.
Hewitt police Chief James Devlin said a retired firefighter noticed the blaze at about 7:40 a.m. and reported it.
Employees who work at adjacent businesses were allowed into the area to go to work, Devlin said.
Thick clouds of heavy black smoke again billowed into the air and flames could be seen from across the Interstate.
Firefighters from several departments responded to the Monday night blaze shortly after 6 p.m., Devlin said.
One employee was inside the building when the fire started but was able to escape without injury.
The company makes, sells and repairs trailers for commercial and agricultural applications, the company’s website says.
The building is considered a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
