Fire Damages Local Hotel

KILLEEN (July 20, 2013) -- The Killeen Fire Department is investigating after a fire was reported at an area hotel.

The fire was reported shortly after 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the Modern Inn on Root Avenue in Killeen.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find fire coming out of a room on the top floor of the building.

A person inside the room was evacuated, and police and fire crews cleared the area.

The room was damaged by fire.

Two near-by rooms received smoke damage.

The Killeen Fire Marshall's office is investigating the fire as arson.

One suspect has been identified, but no charges have been filed.
