ROBERTSON COUNTY (November 15, 2013) A fire that destroyed two large poultry houses Thursday evening in Robertson County smoldered for hours.

The fire broke out at around 5 p.m. at the poultry production facility off Rose Hill Road south of Bremond.

Both structures were empty at the time of the fire, KBTX-TV reported.

Firefighters from six departments battled the fire, which was under control by around 6:30 p.m., but which continued to smolder late into the night.

Robertson County authorities told KBTX the facility is an independent producer for Sanderson Farms and said the owners are out of the country.
