KILLEEN (October 2, 2013)--Fire Wednesday morning at a Killeen apartment complex led to the evacuation of some residents, but no one was injured and the fire was contained in one unit.
Firefighters were sent just before 9 a.m. Wednesday to the Terrace Heights Apartment complex in the 1700 block of Terrace Drive after a caller reported that smoke was coming from one of the units.
When firefighters arrived they reported light smoke coming from a building at the back of the complex and began evacuating the seven other apartments in the building.
Killeen Fire Department Capt. Linda Brooks said the fire was confined to an apartment on the second floor of the building and was quickly extinguished.
No one was injured.
Brooks said there was some light smoke damage to adjacent apartments, but the residents likely would not be displaced.
Fire crews remained on the scene using powerful fans to clear smoke from the neighboring apartments.
Investigators haven’t determined the cause of the fire, but were talking to the resident of the apartment in which it started.
