WACO (February 22, 2012)--Firefighters found the body of a missing Waco woman late Wednesday afternoon as they dragged the Brazos River.

Glenda Lynne Lang, 59, disappeared Tuesday just hours before she was to have taken a flight to from Waco to Houston from where she was to have flown to Florida.

McLennan County Justice of the Peace Jean Laster pronounced Lang dead and ordered an autopsy.

Police are classifying the death as questionable pending the results of the autopsy.

Family members said Lang was planning a trip to Florida to visit relatives, but never made the commuter flight she was supposed to take from Waco Regional Airport to Houston.

Waco Police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Lang lived off J.J. Flewellen Drive, in Waco, where her son said he was supposed to have picked her up Tuesday to take her to the airport.

Swanton said when the son arrived at the address, Lang's bags were packed, but she was nowhere to be found.

The property in the 4200 block of J.J. Flewellen is very close to the Brazos River and Lang's family said she had a special spot on the riverbank where she likes to go to sit.

David Moseley, Lang's neighbor, said he'd been to that spot before, and considered it dangerous.

"I've slipped and fallen in that same exact spot myself. It's naturally a hazardous slippery area," said Moseley.

Swanton said evidence was found at that spot that led investigators to believe she was there on Tuesday and either fell or jumped into the river.

Swanton said there was no evidence of foul play.

Lang was last seen at her home on Tuesday morning, family members said.

Her son lives in the home on J.J. Flewellen with her.

The search, which started Tuesday night, was focused in an area on the west side of the Lake Shore Drive Bridge near the Cargill Foods plant at 3130 Gholson Rd.

Tuesday night, Waco police officers involved in the search were discussing the possibility of bringing in a search dog and inquiring about the availability of a Department of Public helicopter equipped with forward looking infrared imaging equipment.

Firefighters returned to the river at around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The McLennan County Sheriff's Office helicopter was in the air over the search area Wednesday.
