WACO (January 31, 2014) Global health care company Allergan Friday announced a $10.6 million expansion of its ophthalmic pharmaceuticals manufacturing facility in Waco, which will include new technology and increased production capacity to support a new product line.
The expansion will mean 20 to 30 new jobs at the plant, which now employs about 640, the company said.
Ground has been broken for the 22,000-square-foot expansion project, which should be completed within a year.
Operations started in 1989 at the Waco facility, which initially focused on lens-care products, but since then the product line has been expanded to include skin care products, over-the-counter eye drops and prescription eye care products.
