ATASCOSA (August 10, 2014) Five people were injured when a truck hit a carriage pulled by a donkey near the rural town of Atascosa southwest of San Antonio.
Two of the injured, a man and a boy, were critically injured and were flown to a San Antonio hospital, Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rosanne Hughes said.
The other three victims were also hospitalized.
Hughes says the accident happened at around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The truck hit the carriage from behind.
The driver of the truck didn’t stop after the accident, but was caught a short time later.
Authorities suspect alcohol might have been involved.
Hughes says the driver, whose name was not immediately released, could face DWI and intoxication assault charges if it's determined he was legally drunk.
