BATON ROUGE, La. (January 2, 2014) Five Texas residents were arrested in Baton Rouge, La., after an alleged shopping spree in which counterfeit $100 bills were used.
The arrests came after officers received an anonymous tip on New Year’s Eve, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.
Deputies arrested a man and four women at a Baton Rouge hotel and seized several boxes from area stores and a large amount of cash.
Hicks said more cash was found in three other hotel rooms.
Each of the five was charged with four counts of monetary instrument abuse and theft.
Victor Henry, Mazarati Esset, Tabatha Jolivet and Krystal Noriega, all of Houston and Kayla Peterson of Pasadena were all charged with four counts of monetary instrument abuse and theft.
Hicks said the case remains under investigation.
