The Killeen Independent School District released a statement late Tuesday evening commenting on the death of Joseph Alaniz.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those involved in the recent car accident. We express our deepest sympathies to them, and especially to the family of former student Joseph Alaniz."

WILLIAMSON COUNTY (July 1, 2014) A former Central Texas football player is dead and two other teens injured after their car swerved to avoid hitting a deer.
The accident happened early Tuesday morning on FM 1431 near Marble Falls.
Joseph Alaniz, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alaniz was a starting offensive lineman for the Harker Heights High School football team last season.
Three other people were inside the car with Alaniz.
Dequan Meyers, 19, was in intensive care at Seton Medical Center in Williamson County Tuesday evening.
Vasantha Fraser, 19, was also taken to Seton Medical Center. Her condition was not immediately available.
The driver of the car, Brandon Cook, 18, was not hurt.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating the accident, however officials say all four passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
