Former Central Texas Sheriff Dies At 58

COPPERAS COVE (January 28, 2013)--Coryell County Pct. 1 Constable Roger Faught, of Copperas Cove, died of a heart attack over the weekend at his home.

He was 58.

Faught, a master peace officer, also served as Coryell County sheriff and as an officer on the Copperas Cove police force.

He also was an instructor at the Central Texas College Police Academy for many years.

Faught was the 10th child born to Irlan and Bertha Faught in Brownfield, graduated from Burnet High School and married his high school sweetheart Cathy O'Dell in 1973.

He was a member of and the Past Master of Mt. Horeb Lodge #137 A.F. and A.M. in Mahomet, Texas.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Faught of Copperas Cove; two daughters, Christy McMichael and her husband Rick of Gatesville and Laurie Faught and Jon of Clinton, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Madeline, Shelby and Cordell McMichael, Cheyenne and Charisma Faught; and a great grandchild on the way; a brother Bill Faught; two sisters Georgie Trull and Linda Ramsey and many extended family members and friends.

The Faught family will receive guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Worship Center in Copperas Cove with Pastor Kirby Lack officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Masons' and local law enforcement officers.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Associated Security Services and Investigators of the State of Texas (ASSIST) to benefit fallen officers in the State of Texas.
