ROCKWALL (February 18, 2013)—Former North Texas county constable Anthony Dewayne Lewis has been charged in a shooting in a parking lot that left his ex-girlfriend dead and her male friend injured.

Lewis was shot during a chase Saturday night after the attack and was critical condition at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Rockwall police Sgt. Aaron McGrew said.

The former Hunt County constable faces murder and attempted murder charges.

His bond was set at $1.5 million.

A Parkland official referred questions about Lewis to police, who didn't immediately release further details.

The Department of Public Safety said officers shot Lewis in an exchange of gunfire during the chase.

Authorities identified the slain woman as Jessica Aguilar, 33.

Officials said the injured man, Francisco Delacruz, 40, was hospitalized in stable condition.
