Former Texas HS Coach’s Conviction Upheld In Pregnant Wife’s Death

HOUSTON (January 16, 2013)—The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals Wednesday upheld the conviction of a former Houston area high school coach who was found guilty of murder in the 1999 shooting death of his pregnant wife.

The court ruled Wednesday there was sufficient evidence to support David Temple's conviction.

Temple was sentenced to life in prison for the murder.

Prosecutors accused him of staging the crime to look like a burglary and killing his wife because of an affair he was having with another woman, whom he later married.

His attorneys asked for a new trial, claiming new evidence implicates a then teenage neighbor, but in the ruling, the appeals court said information about this other suspect was presented at trial and Temple was still convicted.
