Former Texas Lawyer Accused Of Stealing From Clients Sentenced

FORT WORTH (February 3, 2012)--Former North Texas lawyer Donald Driver, 61, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for stealing more than $200,000 from clients.

In 2007 Driver gave up his law license, in lieu of possible disciplinary action by the State Bar.

He was accused of keeping cash settlements meant for his clients.

Driver, who continued to practice, was indicted in April on six counts of falsely working as a lawyer and two counts of misappropriating assets.

Prosecutors in Fort Worth say Driver pleaded guilty on Jan. 6 to misappropriating client funds and falsely holding himself out as a lawyer.

He was sentenced the same day.
