Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook:
Typical July weather Saturday and Sunday. Highs both days near 100° degrees. Feeling more like 101° to 104° thanks to humidity!
FORT HOOD (May 6, 2015) A large wildfire that’s been burning since Sunday on the Browns Creek Multi-use Range at Fort Hood was about 85 percent contained Tuesday afternoon, the post’s fire chief, Billy Rhoads, said.
The fire spread over more than 1,500 acres after breaking out at around 8:20 a.m. Sunday.
Officials do not know what started the fire.
No structures or people were in danger of the flames on the range which is on the western side of the impact area on the range.
Last week, two fires at the Blackwell and Lone Star ranges burned close to 1,000 acres before officials were able to put them out.
