Fort Hood Soldier Charged With Murdering Fellow Soldier

KILLEEN (April 2, 2011) - Killeen Police are investigating after a Fort Hood soldier was shot and killed in a restaurant parking lot early Saturday morning.

Officers were called out to the Denny's restaurant parking lot in the 1100 block of S. Fort Hood St. at 3:05 a.m.

Witnesses say two men were arguing in the parking lot when one pulled a gun and shot the other in the chest.

The gunman then fled.

Fort Hood soldier Justin Sheldon Richardson, 27, was taken to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.

His body was sent for autopsy at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Fort Hood soldier Michael Fitzgerald Reese, 29, was arrested at the Killeen Police Headquarters at 2:15pm, and is charged in Richardson's murder.

Reese was in the Killeen City Jail awaiting Saturday night.

Richardson was a specialist who had been assigned to Company A, 15th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since September 2010.

He joined the Army in December 2005 and deployed to Iraq from January 2008 to January 2009.
