Fort Hood Soldier Dies In Hit-And-Run At Motorcycle Rally

FORT HOOD (September 26, 2011)--A Fort Hood soldier died Friday after a pickup truck struck him during a motorcycle rally in South Carolina.

The driver of the truck didn’t stop.

Sgt. 1st Class Maurice Collier, 48, was directing traffic outside of a bar in Eureka, S.C., when the truck hit him at around 8:10 p.m. Friday, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said.

Carlton says Collier was a treasurer for the 500—member Outcast Motorcycle Club.

After the hit-and-run, other bikers confronted the driver and forced him to return to the scene where he was stabbed several times, authorities said.

The driver, whose name wasn’t released, was taken to Aiken Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Collier was also taken to Aiken Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

An autopsy showed he died of blunt force trauma
