DALLAS (October 7, 2012)—Four people died in the crash of a small plane that disappeared after taking off from a regional airport near Roanoke, authorities said.

The identities of the four victims have not been released, Lynn Lunsford of the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Lunsford said the Beechcraft Bonanza took off Saturday morning from the Northwest Regional Airport near Roanoke and disappeared about 25 miles southeast of Terrell.

She said a search was started after air traffic controllers lost radar and radio contact with the plane.

Lunsford said the pilot a Texas Department of Safety helicopter that joined the search spotted the plane Saturday evening near Terrell.

All four of the dead were aboard the aircraft, she said.
