PASADENA (April 19, 2014) Four people died and two others were critically injured early Saturday when a car drifted into oncoming traffic and slammed into a cab in Pasadena, authorities said.
The impact sounded like an "explosion" to an officer who was in the area of the crash, Pasadena police spokesman Vance Mitchell said.
The crash didn’t result in a fire, but Mitchell described the accident scene as horrendous.
It appears the driver of the car entered a curve at too high a rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle, Mitchell said.
Two people riding in the car and two backseat passengers in the taxi died, he said.
The driver of the cab and a front-seat passenger were flown to a Houston hospital in critical condition.
The names of the victims weren’t immediately released.
