TEMPLE (March 20, 2013)—An Interstate 35 service road was closed early Wednesday afternoon in Temple after four vehicles on a car hauler were damaged by fire.

The fire started in the engine compartment of one of the three SUVs and five cars loaded on the trailer and burning debris damaged three other vehicles, Temple Fire & Rescue spokesman Thomas Pechal said.

The rig was northbound on the interstate near the Midway exit south of the old Outdoor America Mall when the fire broke out.

There were no reports of injuries.

An electrical problem sparked the fire, officials said.

An estimate of the damage wasn’t immediately available.
