WACO (September 21, 2012)—A Friday night argument between two men in a Waco neighborhood ended in a shooting that sent one of the men to a local hospital.
Police were sent at about 10 p.m. to the 700 block of Proctor where neighbors reported hearing two men arguing on a sidewalk and then reported hearing two gunshots.
When officers arrived at the scene they found David Martinez, 30, suffering a gunshot wound to his lower leg.
Waco police Sgt. Steve Graeter said the men, who are neighbors, were involved in a dispute when one of them pulled out a .22 caliber rifle and shot the other on the leg.
Martinez was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.
Victor Alvarado, 52, was arrested at the scene and was taken to the McLennan County Jail where he was booked on a charge of aggravated assault.
By Sunday afternoon, however, Alvarado had posted a $25,000 bond and had been released.
Waco police Victim’s Services and Crime Scene units were called to the address to assist in the investigation.
Graeter said both men had been drinking.
