LUBBOCK (January 21, 2013)—Former Texas Tech student Jeena Roberts, 23, of The Woodlands, who failed to show up for prison to begin a 15-year sentence for a deadly alcohol-related wreck, was been captured Monday in Houston.

Roberts now also faces a bond jumping charge, police said.

A tip helped lead authorities to Roberts, who pleaded guilty in late November to intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault charges in a 2010 accident in which a vehicle she was driving rear-ended an SUV in Lubbock.

The crash killed one passenger in the SUV, Linda Smaltz, 54, of Alvarado, and critically injured another.

Roberts was driving at about 80 miles per hour at the time of the crash and her blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit, authorities said.

The plea deal meant 15 years in prison for intoxication manslaughter and eight years for assault, to be served concurrently.

Roberts was ordered to report to prison Jan. 7, but didn’t show up.
