DALLAS (February 16, 2014) One person was killed and six others were injured in a gun battle that erupted between rival gangs outside a Dallas nightclub, police said Sunday.
Dallas police said in a statement Sunday that the shooting occurred after a fight broke out in a nightclub where promoters were holding a function for teenagers when rival gangs created a disturbance.
Paid security guards used mace to break up a fight, and it then moved outside.
Police say they were responded to the shooting shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.
They have identified the person who was killed as Terrance Carroll, 21.
Eugene Rudd, 21, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by felon after witnesses identified him as one of those who fired a weapon, police said.
