FORT WORTH (July 21, 2014) A teenage girl who died after her go-kart crashed during an autocross event near Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth was identified Monday as Kierstin Eaddy, 14, of Flower Mound.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office didn’t immediately list a cause of the girl’s death.
Eaddy was racing in a Sports Car Club of America event when the crash occurred, authorities said.
She lost control of the go-kart, but it’s not clear why.
Witnesses said Eaddy accelerated as she passed the finish line and then her go-kart hit a cable.
She was flown to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The Sports Car Club of America has released a statement expressing condolences to the girl's family.
