HOUSTON (June 10, 2014) An autopsy was ordered after officers found the body of a 9-year-old girl found wrapped in blankets in her family’s apartment in Houston.
Neighbors grew concerned after not seeing the child for several months and on Monday one of them entered the home through an unlocked door and found the girl's body in the kitchen.
Nobody else was there.
Sgt. Chris Hassig says investigators are trying to reach the girl's mother and have contacted the child's father, who lives elsewhere.
The name of the girl and further details on the case weren't immediately released.
Child Protective Services officials are helping investigate.
