HOUSTON (August 9, 2014) Cheyenne Infinity Johnson, 2, who was the focus of a statewide Texas Amber Alert issued Friday night, was rescued Saturday morning after a two-hour standoff with the armed suspect who held her as he negotiated with sheriff’s deputies.
Jesse William Thomas, 33, held the girl as he sat in a car in the parking lot of a Houston-area mall Saturday morning.
Deputies sealed off the mall while they negotiated with him.
He eventually surrendered.
The girl was abducted in Austin, according to the alert issued late Friday, which said authorities believed the toddler "to be in grave or immediate danger."
Her relationship to Thomas wasn’t immediately clear.
Thomas was wanted on two unrelated counts of aggravated assault on an officer.
