DALLAS (November 1, 2011)—A man whom police described as a "person of interest" in the stabbing death of a 10-year-old Oklahoma City girl who was visiting relatives in Texas was jailed Tuesday on a murder charge, police said.

Carrollton Police Lt. Doug Mitchell said Tuesday that Jose Sifuentes, 23, has been arrested.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents took custody of him earlier.

Jasmen Gonzalez and her family traveled from Oklahoma City to the Dallas suburb of Carrollton to visit friends and family.

The girl disappeared from a Carrollton apartment late Saturday night and her body was found Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say she died of a stab wound to the chest.

Police say Sifuentes attended a gathering Saturday night at the family’s apartment.

Mitchell said he did not have any attorney information for Sifuentes.

About two-dozen people holding candles and stuffed bears turned out Monday night in Carrollton for a prayer vigil for the girl.

Counselors will be available through the week at the school in Oklahoma the girl attended.
