WACO (June 11, 2014) The McLennan County Grand Jury returned multi-count indictments Wednesday against six men accused of gang-raping a teenage girl who skipped school.
Lamont Tray Davis, 19, Cory Darnell Hall, 19, Da’Juan Oshea Degrate, 18, Day’Tron Derrell Smith, 18, and Devoric Javon Evans, 20, were each named in 15-count indictments charging 13 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of sexual assault of a child.
Douglas Demond Canada, 19, was named in a 16-count indictment charging 13 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and three counts of sexual assault of a child.
The six were arrested on May 8 on warrants stemming from an investigation that started after the 15-year-old girl was taken to Providence Health Center for an exam on April 23 and indicated she had been sexually assaulted, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
“Officers discovered the victim had skipped school earlier in the day and left with several individuals whom she knew,” Swanton said.
”Those suspects took her to a home in the North Waco area where they and several other suspects all had sexual contact with her,” Swanton said.
“Detectives...were able to determine that all six of the suspects had some sort of sexual contact with the victim against her will,” he said.
